They are well known for their jazz programs, as well as folk performers such as our New England folk music legend Arlo Guthrie.

Originally constructed in 1912, the former "Union Square Theatre" and "Berkshire Public Theatre" is now called "The Berkshire Music Hall". This 625-seat venue reopened after major renovations in 2006. It is now owned and operated by The Barrington Stage Company and features live music, musicals, dance and theater performances.

Concert Photos This is an outdoor amplitheater with a capacity of 1,200 people. It is set inside a restored historic mill complex that is owned and operated by the Lowell National Historic Park Service. During the summer months they hold the "Lowell Summer Music Series" of concerts here each weekend on Friday and Saturday nights. They also offer 10 FREE Kid's Shows on weekends. All concerts are family oriented and are general admission (no reserved seating, the first to arrive get the best seats). You can bring a picnic & drinks (non-alocholic), blankets and lawn chairs. They also have consession stands that sell food, drinks (non-alocholic), music memorabilia and CD's of the artist that is performing that night. If it rains the concerts are moved indoors to the Lowell High School Auditorium in the George D. Kouloheras Building, across from Boarding House Park. You can park on the nearby streets or across the street from the park at the 1,000-car Joseph Downes Sr. Parking Garage (also known as the John Street Parking Garage) at the corner of French and John Streets. The parking garage cost $5 after 6PM for these events or your can park on nearby streets. Some great recording artist that have played here including Arlo Guthrie, Dr. John, Leon Russell, Richie Havens, Eric Burdon and the New Animals, Davy Jones, Bruce Hornsby, Jay Gells and Magic Dick of Bluestime, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, Herman's Hermits starring Peter Noone, Tom Rush, Livingston Taylor, Herb Reed & The Platters, James Cotton Blues Band, Los Lobos, Judy Collins, Indigo Girls, Orleans, and many more. Plus each year they hold an Annual Banjo & Fiddle Contest (FREE), and the Annual Lowell Folk Festival (FREE). This is my favorite place to see a band play in Massachusetts and you'll see why if you attend a concert here.

Performance Calendar This 810 seat historic landmark playhouse was built in 1903. In 2006 they completed a two-year, 22 million dollar restoration to bring it back to its original elegant victorian beauty and added new sound and lighting technology. They now feature live music, drama, comedy, dance, film and more. See Arlo Guthrie perform on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 8PM and "The Nutcracker" during the second week in December, plus many other shows all year-round.
